Claire's Journey to the Largest Networking Event

Updated: Jan 9

From Formal Wear to Wednesday Addams

As the founder of Innovate Marketing Studio, a marketing agency that thrives on creativity, I recently attended the largest networking event with over 300+ entrepreneurs, professionals, and even celebrities.

The theme? Costume/Formal. Given the nature of my business, I knew I had to go beyond formalwear to showcase my creative side. After all, what better way to represent a marketing agency than by making a statement?

The Invitation Came Last-Minute

It all started with a casual networking call on a Monday. I connected with the event organizer on Thursday, and out of curiosity, I asked if there were any events I could attend. Her reply? "Tomorrow!" As a busy business owner with less than 24 hours to prepare, I had to think fast. The organizer mentioned she'd be dressing as Little Red Riding Hood, so I knew showing up in plain formal attire wasn't an option.

The Challenge: A Creative Costume in 24 Hours

As someone who typically wears black, white, dark navy, and other muted tones, my wardrobe didn’t exactly scream "costume party." With no time to shop, I turned to Pinterest and Little Red Book for inspiration. Luckily, Halloween had just passed, and I stumbled upon photos of people dressed as Wednesday Addams from the Netflix series.

The choice was obvious. I’ve always identified with Wednesday’s quiet, mysterious, and introspective nature. Growing up as an introvert with an unbothered attitude, I saw so much of myself in her. Though my extroverted side has flourished recently due to content creation, UGC, and live streaming, I felt Wednesday still reflected a core part of who I am.

Embracing My Inner Wednesday

On the day of the event, I put together a Wednesday-inspired look. The challenge? Smiling less. As much as I relate to Wednesday’s personality, I’ve become known for my approachable and cheerful demeanor. Attendees at the event joked that I was “too smiley” to pull off Wednesday’s signature stoic vibe. For the photos, I made a conscious effort to keep my smiles to a minimum—an amusing yet effective way to stay in character.

A Night of Inspiration and Connection

The event turned out to be an incredible experience. I had the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life, hear their stories, and learn about their passions, businesses, and challenges. It was a reminder that, as entrepreneurs and business owners, we’re all fighters navigating life’s ups and downs.

My biggest takeaway? Treasure the precious moments, people, and opportunities life brings your way. Everything happens for a reason. Trust the process and keep learning as life goes on.

The Power of Networking

This event reinforced the value of physical networking. Real human interaction builds stronger connections and bonds that digital interactions often can’t replicate. However, when combined with the wide reach of digital marketing, the two create a powerful synergy.

At Innovate Marketing Studio, we believe in leveraging both traditional and new media to craft impactful strategies. This experience inspired me to continue bridging the gap between the physical and digital worlds, helping businesses thrive in every aspect.
